WARBIRDS!!
Evergreen also operates their fleet of
flying classics as a "for hire" service.
Appearing at several airshows annually (airshow appearances have been
temporarily cancelled), these rare birds are
a popular attraction. Evergreen Ventures Heritage
Collection also supplies aircraft to the film industry.
They are currently working with a movie company
on a feature film, Starring Clint Eastwood. The B-17 is
the plane of choice here: The plot of the film,
"Operation Cold Feet", involves the extrication
of spies from the Soviet Union during the period
following World War II. B-17's were used in a balloon and
bungie cord snatch operation for these extrications.
Coincidentally, the Evergreen B-17's logbook entries show
the removal of the apparatus used in these operations.
Apparently this very plane was used in the operations
depicted in the movie. (curiously there are no entries
for the installation, only for removal of this hardware)
The Evergreen Heritage collection
includes some very rare airplanes. Along with the
"Flying Fortress", a Ford Tri-Motor, Douglas
DC-3A, Lockheed P-38 "Lightning", and a
beautiful TBM Avenger (the type plane George Bush flew)
are available. They also have a Mustang and a
Spitfire...as well as several other rare classics.
