  • A P-40 returns to the skies

Just a few short days ago Chris Provost of Vintage Aircraft Company took to the skies in his newly restored P-40N (42-105306) for the first time. This past Saturday I got to see it make its 4th flight. An exciting time at a relatively small airport Congratulations to Chris and the whole gang that made this birds return to the skies possible.
A few more shots of it (and a couple videos) can be seen on the WIX site.

The lack of a shark mouth might slow it down...

That’s the P-40 that Denny Jones and Dave DeWitt (September Pops crewmembers) helped rebuild, beautiful work.

Looks like some pretty awesome sheet metal work!

Re: A P-40 returns to the skies

I have a few pictures that I took a few weeks before Reno last year. I happened to be passing by with the camera in the car when I saw it out. I quickly turned around and came back. It was only the second time it had run, and the first time it had moved under its own power.

I have been watching the build for the past almost 4 years now. I think its great to hear that it has returned to the skies, and look forward to hearing it flying over. A huge congratulations to all the people who made this happen.
Now if only we could lure the other V12 that lives there out...

              Ok, I guess I can't post pictures... I don't have a security token? A little help please?

I think I saw the P40 up again this afternoon. Not positive, but I think there was also a P51. It was too far away for me to tell for sure, but the profiles looked correct.

I think I got the pics to upload now.
