Ahh.. I can almost smell he avgas and burning oil, hear the rumbling, caughing engine starts!
It's always been this way. Early in the week, we'd set up the computer and begin to throw out whatever information we could gather, to an eager "throng" of race fans absolutely chewing at the rope, still at home, wishing they could leave, counting down the seconds until planned departure times arrived...
The visitation rate here on the site always reflected this, lots of folks, hungry for info hitting the site many times an hour... then it reverses....
IT'S TIME TO GO!!!!!!!
By now on Wednesday, many of you are actually on the way to Reno Stead, flying, driving, combination of both, but you're on your way, the faithful on the annual pilgrimage, IT'S RENO TIME BABY!!!!!!
What's different for me, this year?? In year's past, as the traffic dropped on the web site, the human traffic at the physical site (reno stead) steadily grew. More of you would stop by the hangar and say hello, there was more going on, the Warlock party was pending tonight... Life was GOOD!
This year, I'm not there, I'm here, watching from afar, itching for info, wanting more, give me pit cam, cockpit cam, hat cam.... any cam!!! I want info!
I truly pity those who can not go, either this year or last or any of the years of racing at Reno Stead, it is truly torture, truly!
With this rambling message I ask you one favor, I know some of my close buds are already doing it... when you sip that cold nectar, be it a beer, a coke or anything in-between, think about those of us who can't make it but want to so bad we can taste it!
To ALL who have shown me such sweetness and love in messages of support, I will never be able to respond in a way that is worthy of the wonderful words and thoughts you have sent my way. I am sure that as I near the end of my treatment and begin my long healing process, your thoughts and words will be there making the process faster and more effective.
Much love has been shared with me this week and over the past weeks, I simply do not know how to respond but to say a simple.... Thank You!
THANK YOU!
