Now I wish I took a few more.

These are awesome. I know I definitely need to stick around one night next year. I remember the sunset, but my contacts were so damn dry that day I could not see a thing. I left right after the Gold heat.

This was on Saturday, I was hanging out at the AAR hanger and I could see the sky was going to be real interesting. I grabbed a fresh battery and a blank card and ran out the pit, at first I was trying to find a good spot to shoot from and at that point I started to realize just how many trailers and poles I had in the way. I ran up and down each row looking for some good angles. The colors changed very fast and I don't think it really lasted more than 10 or 15 minutes.
I thought Sunday might turn out the same but the amazing colors we had the night before just didn't happen.
Tim I know your a Drag race fan, do you ever hang out after the races?
The whole mood changes. Reno is even better!

Yeah I have been to a ton of drag races, but never hung out too late after the action. I started going to the US Nationals over Labor Day weekend back in 1991. I usually spend the whole 4 day weekend there. Last year I did not make it because of money, and sold my tickets for all 4 days on Ebay. It ended up getting rained out though, and ran the next weekend, so I made out on that deal!!
With it so close to Reno, I can't afford to do both. I ended up just going to Indy on Friday this year for the night time nitro session.
I do remember one great late day though. The 40th US Nats. in 1994 went until 10PM on finals day, Monday. It rained up until about 1-2PM. It was just an awesome sight to see the nitro cars that year. The humidity was close to 100%, and the wind was calm, the nitro just hung in the air. It was really cool.

I'm actually going to a race tomorrow, a big wheelstand contest is being held at a local track.
