In our pits we loved the car drop. The coolest was when they dropped the bus.

Shoot. I forgot to bring this up with Mike H. at the Oshkosh Reno booth. I always enjoyed the car drop...and I would have been nice and not recommended the "crying shame" bus drop.... (a bus full of politician dummies dropped with one empty seat) I did get a free 50th anniversary Poster and last year's program

Hell, I didn't even remember the car drop when we interviewed MH at Osh on EAA Radio. I would have mentioned something then. DAMN !
Anyways, I had car drops in Astoria,OR which were a Huge crowd favorite. It was SOOOO cool to see a VW microbus collapse to about ten inches in total height after dropping from 1500 feet.

Ah yes I forgot all about those but remember them well. Was it 1988 when they dropped one on an actual runway or taxiway? Oops!!!

Yes, they dropped it on 08/26 while the Gold Unlimited heat was still in their cooldown. Yet another reason to NOT transmit on race frequency.

I miss the car drop. Best suggestion though was from my son years ago at the age of about seven. "Dad, couldn't they get a A-10 to strafe the car after they dropped it?"

That is why I always get the extra insurance on my rental car. I believe it could be covered within the fine print of the section titled..."You did what?!" .
