Posts made past 02:30PM 12/30/24 won't be on the new site!

We are in the final stages of resolving the issues with the forums move to the new location. After talking with tech support, the only solution was to send him a copy of all the images. This will take time - but we know the fix SO it's only a matter of time now.

    AFAIK, the 10 F2G corn-cobs built didn't offer the Navy sufficient performance advantage over the F4U-4..
    [Which is - presumably - why they were released as surplus & available for the Cleveland Air Races].
    The Corsair continued post-war development into F4U-5, & which the USN preferred over both the
    F2G & F8Fs..

      So in the end, No it was never done. There was an extensive engineering file that my Dad developed, complete with the Pratt & Whitney 4360 installation manual. When it was all finished Lyle decided that the later versions of the R-3350 (Our later versions not Wrights) produced what was needed to make the job continue to happen.

          Not that I know of...to my knowledge, the R-2800 on her now is the one she showed up with for 2011...the first one they put on her. The Sanders are currently building up a second Fury w/ R-2800 power as well:
