We are in the final stages of resolving the issues with the forums move to the new location. After talking with tech support, the only solution was to send him a copy of all the images. This will take time - but we know the fix SO it's only a matter of time now.

Re: Never knew this happened....
Yeah, & given the good old Navy vs Army rivalry..
.. the USN was keen to prove they didn't need no stinkin' 'Stang..
They would've found it kinda hard to get them gas hog R-2800s to cruise at ~400mph though..

Re: Never knew this happened....
Placards listing performance for Corsair & Mustang in British service..
Note max continuous cruise speed at 20,000ft - `51D is 100mph faster..

Re: Never knew this happened....
I don't see that. I see that the Corsair goes 415 at 19, 500, and the Mustang goes 437 at 24,000.
Oh, I see you're looking at the Maximum Weak Mixture speeds for 20,000 feet, 300 vs 400. Yeah, the Mustang goes fast.

Re: Never knew this happened....
& this is what the Brits did..
The RAF did not want any more recip' fighters, so no Sabre-Fury in service..
..but the RN needed a locally built replacement for their lend-lease Corsairs & Hellcats..
& Hawker got the gig..Last edited by J.A.W.; 08-26-2013, 04:53 PM.
