Precious Metals Current Situation...Hope They Make It
Re: Precious Metals Current Situation...Hope They Make It
I'll up Desertdawgs offer and hoist a couple glasses of scotch to the air race gods in your honor.
As has been said before, the ghost of Jeannie is right beside you!
Next worry will be the xc trip. Thom probably hasn't had much sleep in the last 48 hrs. Hope he has a chase plane and 5 hour energy, red bull...whatever it takes to get him here safely. Maybe Steve Hinton should fly half way and meet up with him for escort back to Reno. Wouldn't that be cool!
Thanks for the heads up hoss. I assure you Thom get's **** about sleeping from everyone from his crew to his wife. Hate to sound harsh here, but we would not launch either the aircraft or it's pilot at anything other than 100%. That man stays in the trenches with us unlike any other pilot/racer I have ever worked with. When we know he's had enough we send him home, or the couch.
You know, anything is possible. No, PM with the current motor shouldn't be able to run at the front unless there is alot that we don't know about this motor (as in its more than its billed as being). Still, If the wing mods work the way they hoping (and should) things could be interesting. You throw some attrition in from the front runners pushing each other to edge which is very possible, they very well could have a situation like what happened with Dreadnought when they won. Yes, it will take a very large amount of good luck on the PM side, and a lot of bad luck for everyone else (Not that I wish bad luck on anyone).
It would be a heck of a story, and since the public likes a good drama story, this would go over pretty well if they did win. That said, nature could throw a curveball and it snows or something crazy grounding the race. (I hope not since I'll be camping and driving a car that doesn't do snow.)
Its anyone's race, and anything can happen. The guys have worked their butts off, been swamped with really bad luck, fought back to put the plane on the starting grid and now the stage is set for an impressive comeback. Considering the competition, a podium finish would be epic. Heck In 1980, Jeannie got bellied in. 4 days later just before the deadline Jeannie appeared at Reno. They went on to win it all. Its happened in the past, and history has been known to repeat itself. I think a win by PM would be huge for the crew, but also for the races as well. Everyone loves a good comeback story.

Go PM Go!
Will
Over and over again today I have heard people at Stead say "We are finally going to have a RACE this year." The attitude is very good. Still, there seems to be an acknowledgement that it could be anybody's race. Some of the PM Team besides myself are already here- and Hangermate Race 99 in Formula One is already here. This would have made the most amazing Reality TV Show, but since those are all scripted...the writers could never have kept up with our on-going battles with Mr Murphy!
I must add that I love Thom's passion for both Air Racing and Precious Metal. He is like a bolt of happy, excited lightening over the whole thing. All the new friends I made today are asking for details and pulling for us. I can't wait for everybody to see her when she arrives...she is stunning this year!!!
