The next generation - toys and die cast for kids
From a marketing perspective, I think the Unlimited teams have missed a big opportunity to get the next generation of fans by not finding a toy company that was willing to make die cast models of their planes. What if there a Dreadnought, a Strega, a Dago Red, or an old timers pack with the Red Baron and Conquest 1? Planes with the accurate paint jobs, so that kids (and parents) got to know them, to recognize them, root for them. Look at how big NASCAR collectable cars are. A P-51 or Sea Fury is much cooler than a Chevy Lumina.
I look around and see kids playing with "Dusty Crophopper" from Disney's "Planes" and wonder what might have been.
There is a market out there, maybe it could still be done. I know I'd buy some. But the teams would need to come together with eight or 10 or more as a group.
