One of the CO news outlets is stating the P-51 was John Earley's but didn't say who the two occupants were.

Confirmed, it's the owner and flight instructor. Something seems missing in these articles. You don't learn to fly and start by flying a Mustang.

Truly sad.
It does raise the ? of How much time in type did the flight instructor have? The owner/pilot apparently had some time in a trainer (T6?). I would like to know more.

Very sad, condolences to all invloved. The owner purchased Checker Tail Clan last August. Don't know the owners or instructors time or experience in aircraft types. Sounds as if he may be a fairly new pilot. Went down on takeoff, gust lock, engine failure? Will be interesting to see what the NTSB comes up with.

Same guys owns a super d and a t-6 , and why not learn in an airplane like that we sent guys off to defend our country with far less time , he was a nice guy

Lot's of different talk, some are now talking about possible torque roll. What ever the cause, you hate to see this happen to anyone. God Bless.

That could be -the road where it hit is directly to the left of the runway. It's tragic we are losing way too many new guys.
