Stead Airport Report 8/30 - The Bear Is Alive

Does the bear ever sound good. Yesterday 8/29 they fired up the engine and ran her about 15 minutes, no issues. Today they ran her for about 30 minutes. Sure sounds good :-)

As much as I want to see Tiger and the witch lay a spanking down, I'd really like to see the Bear reclaim his past glory too. The anticipation is killing me!!!

I see some chocks behind the wheels in the pics. What more would you want?!

On a high horsepower engine, with over size propeller. ie the Bear, you need chocks behind the wheels due to the high ground resonance resulting in a cyclonic airflow pushing the plane backwards..........little known aeronautical fact.

They need to paint the Bear orange and white, put on the three blade prop, and turn up the nitrous pressure a little. All that fancy paint just slows her down.

The brakes on that airplane were not up to the task until John Slack modified them. After an engine install running it without chocks seems odd.

Just saw new pics on facebook. The cowl is solid purple now. looks good, but I had to look at it twice to decide if I liked it. The paint work with the orange checker in there was super detailed and technical, but I like the solid cowl better. Reminds me of the Bear of yesteryear.

And sounds like she is about to take flight as I type!!

I had that same feel in looking like it. She looks clean like this, but i agree with the detail in the checkers, looks gorgeous either way
