Didn't stilletto, or actually color tile special lose one also, I remember a picture of Bruce Boland looking at it after it landed with skip at the controls.

        Trim Tab Too

Neal- Do you have pictures of #69 "Coyote" with the damaged rudder at the Bakersfield race?

I remember about half of it broke off- and the other part beat the rudder to death. RG

          Rudder trim tabs...

Fun thread and great nostalgic pics from Neal! I believe Skip also lost a trim tab coming down the chute in Tsunami in the famed record-breaking 1991 Gold Final. In talking with several Unlimited Mustang pilots, losing rudder trim tabs is a pretty common occurance. I've been told that if you ever had the chance to take a walk around the perimeter of the racecouse, you'd likely find several left over from the many years of racing.

              Coyote?

So who, besides "Know-it-all Goss" can tell us the racing history of this particular bird?

So how much leg does it take to fly/race a Mustang without rudder trim? Peas

So nobody's gonna bite on my quiz? Should be pretty easy -- something like a 15 year race history, two numbers, three pilots and some very big names. Kenworth ring a bell? Wiley Coyote?

Without looking it up, how about Ms. Candace, then Jeannie and flown by Mac McClain and Skip Holm respectively. Wiley Sanders owned is as Jeannie. It's now with Jimmie Leeward with the shortest wings ever flown on a race Mustang as Spectre. Right? Not sure of the owner pre-cut-down canopy. I blew the black vs. red on the Levitz P-38, but I do remember the gear collapse in the pits.. OUCH!

Sorry Pea -- Missed again, though a couple of the connections correlate... Jeannie's "Hoerner" wingtips are even there! Who can tell us the fate of those wingtips?? (Another clue)

                        Next?

Jack Sliker, Escape 1, race17. Then Mac McClain borrowed it from Jack's wife as Kenworth, race# I can't remember, then Wiley Sanders bought it from her, named Georgia Mae, race 69 retained from Miss Candace/Jeannie, who knows why, and it was nicely wrecked by John Putnam and rebuilt. Wiley recently sold it?

                            Wiley Sanders

Damn, I learn something new here everyday. I have long read, and heard the name Wiley Sanders, as well as seeing the trucks on the road all these years. I never put the two together though as being the same guy.

I know Wingman and Goss will know....but anybody else care to guess the significance of the "Snoopy" on the wingtips of "Coyote"?
