Gear issues, sounds like he wasn't able to close the doors

From what I could see the inboard doors wouldn't close. Could see John pitching it up and down trying to get the lights out as he climbed out.

When he came back over the field the gear was down and locked, and he just set up for a 18 downwind.

You could absolutely hear the heartbreak in his voice with his radio call to race control that he was returning to the field.

Talk about a hard-luck guy...
