I have not seen this posted before, but I received a card from Sharon Tegler informing me that John passed away unexpectedly in October. John was a long-time air racing historian, he was one of the Reno announcers for many years and the author of the definitive history of the early years of the National Championship Air Races "Gentlemen You Have A Race".
John will be missed by me, others in the Media and air racing fans everywhere.

Thanks Bill, very sad to see this and surprised Ive not seen it before. John and his wonderful book are one of the reasons I fell in love with Reno Air Racing. I wish there was a part two.

I am also sorry to hear the sad news. He was such a great man and was good about promoting air racing.

He will truly be missed!
