He raced in the AirVenture Cup and got second place in the turbine class (sandwiched between two turbine Legends):

      Re: Turbine Legacy

So of these three turbine aircraft, obviously C-GUTT runs away with it. And, I'm pretty sure he has more throttle as it has gone plenty faster before. But, the real question, is between second and third. With speeds that close, it would be very interesting to see the fuel burn differences.

The Legend wing is up where it was designed to be, if not a little slow. The Legacy wing, not so much. Then you have a difference in flat plate area, which probably isn't that much different.. Cool stuff!

sorry, but I just assumed a warbird or a warbird power plant.
If it isn't intended to race then your options are better.
this being a racing forum, that's the first thing that came to mind.
        Twin 780s ?

Mike said it can produce 800 hp...a piece

1600 HP on a 4000lb air frame would get you in the Sport silver. Maybe.

Yes but hopefully beyond 500 mph lap speeds.

How heavy was the Pond Racer ?

Is the 4000 lbs weight limit gross weight or empty weight ?
