Posts made past 02:30PM 12/30/24 won't be on the new site!
Well, things are going to happen in rapid succession now... I'm going to do a final database backup at 2:30PM CST today. After the vBulletin team gets it - the new site should be operational "with all posts" soon thereafter. Then following a series of checks, and if all goes well, I'll post a link to the new forums here soon.
I miss the Friday night 'tug races' on the ramp. By the end they had become kind of a shell of their former self, but in the early years it was a real hoot to see everyone run what they brung in those pick-up races. From the Bear's big block special, to Art Vance's 'drop tank'.....
They're now part of Reno lore along with the Wednesday night Warlock party, Phil Wallick's multi-media show (whether at the MGM Grand, or on a bedsheet hanging from a race trailer in the pits), and the Florida Gang's smoke-oil parties.

Hadn't even thought about the tug races for a long time. Pro tip- a two stroke golf cart with the governor disabled could be a formidable competitor.
I just love it down there! From the trash haulers.. don't have my photo archives with me but, one of the gals that forklifts the dumpsters around down there decorates her ride to the extreme.. to the racers who hang supersized bras over their pit.. and everything between...
THAT'S RENO!
There is just that slight hint of insanity in everything we do down there I think.. RENO humor is, well, special!
(visions of horse poop in the pits fleeting across my closed eyes) *yes, I CAN type with my eyes CLOSED*
At W10/manassas airport, we had one a dulles aviation that had a 426 hemi in it.....but with a 1 barrel carburetor and a super low rpm optimized cam for torque.
I think most of the horsepower went to help the fan make noise.
