  • Race At Reno? Stunning 2012 Radial Rocket RG For Sale!

Hello everyone! I'm new here so please forgive me if this is the wrong place to make this post (although I cleared it with Wayne not long ago). I have an aircraft sales business and have been lucky enough to be tasked with selling this beautiful and incredible "like new" Radial Rocket RG. The owner originally had it built with the idea of racing it at Reno so I figured this would be a great place to list it for sale (in addition to the normal sales outlets like Controller, etc). I was turned on to this site by a fellow airline pilot friend of mine and so far I have really enjoyed the threads and stories, etc. Hopefully the regulars on here don't mind this post.

In short, this is probably the nicest Radial Rocket in existence. No expense was spared and every detail is perfect. She was built and test flown by Jeff Ackland, who designed the aircraft (and who I believe is a member of this forum as well and is available to answer any questions about the airplane, its flight characteristics, etc). Below is a detailed spec sheet with links to a high resolution photo gallery, the logbooks, some articles written about the airplane, as well as a video. Please email or call me anytime to discuss the plane. There is no doubt this aircraft would be a blast to see race at Reno this September!

No airplane that otherwise stunning deserves the ignominy of a nosewheel!

Well... good news is that the first retract taildragger Radial Rocket is being built right now. The wing with retract main gear should be complete within a few weeks. Fuselage with retract tailwheel to follow.

Truth is - the gear configuration opinions we hear are about evenly split between fixed taildragger, retract taildragger and retract trike. All bases are now covered - Pick the gear config you like best and please order a kit.

Granted I'm a bit biased because I helped build that airplane, but.. Why do a few people, not the majority, feel the need to dislike any tricycle gear airplane? Those few speak up and overwhelm the conversation.

Also, and somewhat related, who the hell cares what it looks like on the ground? That is the whole point of a retractable gear airplane. They retract, when you are flying it, and make it 5 times cooler than all of the airplanes that don't. (And there are many..)

I suppose only sharing photos of it in flight would be better, but sadly Jeff and I were not able to arrange a good air to air photo flight of the airplane before it completed Phase 1. Just a ton of pretty awesome (I think) video instead.

I was hoping the smiley emoticon would be ample to demonstrate that my statement was made tounge in cheek. I guess not. No offense intended and despite the fact that I may prefer the look of a tail dragger the airplane is still absolutely stunning, gear up or down.

Man if only! I'm afraid I will most likely have to settle for a flying model of the bird. I started to design one of my own but I see that Seagull has released a nicely done pre built version of the airplane. I am strongly considering it. Should the lottery ever come through for me though...

No, it didn't. The new owner is going to use it as an incredibly fun recreational plane.
