      Re: Nemesis out and about!

      Hello All! Merry Christmas!!!!!
It’s been a while since we have “flown by” the board. We apologize in advance for the “Christmas Letter” that follows....We missed all of you at Reno this year as we were spinning up to do some speed record runs with the NemesisNXT. In the earlier post we saw where “Nemesis” was sighted flying around SoCal. I am here to report, that at last check, the NemesisNXT was resting quietly in Crew Chief Steve Hill’s hanger in Moriarty N.M. Well resting quietly, except when Steve gets the “Beast” out for some morning revs as it were. So unless he or alternate pilot Mark “Forger” Stucky had the “Pink Beast” out blastin’ around I suspect that the “sighting” was an NXT, be it a blue or yellow one. “Pinkie” is in N.M. resting from it’s recent speed blasts, of setting 5 new World Speed records, 3 of which are over 400 MPH. WOW THAT PLANE SURPRISED THE HECK OUT OF US with its performance!

The Pink NemesisNXT is being donated as a Christmas present to the Southwest National Soaring Museum in Moriarty N.M. When the weather warms up a bit, “Pinkie” might take a crack at a couple of more records, before being flown to the Udvar Hazy Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum (NASM). “Pinkie” will be on loan from the Soaring Museum for a few years to the NASM putting the “Pink Beast right next to it’s little brothe the F1 Nemesis in the Udvar Hazy NASM Annex next to Dulles airport. At the end of the 3 year loan period the NemesisNXT ownership will be permanently transferred from the Southwest National Soaring Museum to the Smithsonian collection for ownership. The NemesisNXT is donated to the Soaring Museum in honor of Mr. George Applebay who started myself and Crew Chief Steve Hill’s career in composite airplanes so many many years ago. George was a visionary, and was the driving force behind the Soaring Museum in Moriarty N.M., which is a really wonderful Museum of soaring treasures.

In 2017, the Smithsonian will move the NemesisNXT to the downtown Air and Space facility for a “Nation of Speed” display. Have to say that would be an exciting flight..... We can see it now.... Taking off from Dulles, and landing on the national mall....... What fun that would be, no doubt with f-16 escorts.... Hopefully they could keep up...... The 10 year display will have several other race planes including one each of Roscoe Turner’s, and Steve Whitman’s racers. Also in the “Nation of Speed” display will be race cars from “Big Daddy” Don Garlits, some guy named Mario, and Janet Guthrie’s Indy cars and some others. That will all be REALLY REALLY COOL to see all of those in one place. We are humbled, and honored for our team, all of which have worked so hard on Chasing those Dreams for all the years. One last thing before signing off. Keep your eyes open for Christopher Webb’s release of the DVD, “For the Record”. Christopher and his team were on hand filming the speed record runs in Moriarty. This will be a follow on sort of thing to the “Air Racer Chasing the Dream” film, and the final chapter if you will on the Nemesis Air Racing adventures.

Hope to see all of you in Reno in 2016. Patricia, Crew Chief Steve Hill, and I will be dong the Contest committee thing again. After our first year of CC in 2014, we know first hand the pylon judges, and photographer’s view, and WOW!!! Holy Crap!!!!

CONGRATULATIONS HOOT, A WELL DONE VICTORY!!!!!CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!

So sorry again for the “Christmas Letter” so to speak, but a lot has happened with our team this year.

Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year!!!!

Jon, Patricia, and all of Team Nemesis!
