  • Fly Over for the Super Bowl

Does anyone know who is preforming the fly over ceremonies for the Super Bowl?

The weather look's clear and in the low 70's.

    Thanks Warbirds45

          Thank you!

We live in the East Bay, here in Northern California. The build up around the Super Bowl, and all the security both private and military is pretty impressive.
The news stated a couple night's ago that the bay area airport's are anticipating........... 300 private aircraft at Oakland, 200 at San Francisco and more at San Jose.
Each arrive private jet was required to have a place to park the aircraft 1 year in advance. A lot of high rollers in the area for Sunday.
We stayed a down in Monterey one year for the yearly Concours D'elegance, a lot of private aircraft as well. Fly in for the event............. show your priceless automobile, and then fly back to paradise.
Ferrari sponsored the event that year, one of the gentlemen told me they left 11 hours ago from Colorado, he said it was like Gum Ball Rally!

          Thanks again
          Have a great weekend...Warbirds45

So, it was the Blue Angels and they apparently made the whole thing as a round trip from their socal base.
I happened to see them from my home as they were flying back south along the West Valley hillside in the 6-plane formation.

Not sure when they made the trip to the Bay Area, but they were parked at Moffett on Saturday.

Arrived 1pm Saturday. Fly-over Sunday. Departed 1pm today.

Actually happened to see all the flights in person.

Do the Blue Angles ever perform carrier landings?

That's a good question. From my understanding, the F-18's the Blue Angels fly are at the end of their service life and their limits of carrier operation. I was surprised to see that the Blue's still have three "A" models.

Interesting. I found this. Wonder if they have every landed on a carrier since.
