It would have been Bruce in the night fighter Corsair, I think.

Re: Wingman Quiz 3
I don't remember if Alan actually raced it or not. I just remember Bruce in it, though I know they both flew it in qualifying. Brad probably knows. I have no idea either what race that might have been -- the slide is not labelled as to day or race.
I wonder if Guilford holds the record for the most last place finishes at Reno?

Alan Preston did raced Reno 1985, with F4U-5NL Corsair #12
It´s seem to be Bronze 1985-09-15, and he took the 6th place, at 314.878.
Jim McMillan 7th.
Bob Guilford , place 9.
Not from my memory.

Ahh, "The World's fastest Skyraider".
I have video from 1985 of the B-26 passing Guilford at the home pylon, with the bomb bay doors open!
Video of the Putman cartwheel and Skips little "upset" behind the Bear during quali's.
Also of a Sea Fury (can't remember who right now) getting almost upside down on pylon 1. Was quite an exiting year.

Re: Wingman Quiz 3
No, I missed that entirely. I was in the back seat of Wayne Handley's "Raven" aerobatic plane over Pyramid Lake doing an air to air shoot. Actually I kind of remember that something was running up as Wayne was strapping me in and briefing me on intercom and emergency egress and such, but I was so pumped and worried and excited that I hardly noticed anything else on the field at that point.
I sure heard about the bomber flight afterwards though.

For those of us that had already returned to the campground to relax and "imbibe", by the time we realized it was happening, it was over...
