The Ultimate "what-if" racer model?

My latest model air racer that's almost finished (still need to touch up the paint) in time for the races. My uncle and I co-designed and built this, we call it the R-38. In my mind it's just about the ultimate what-if racer as we packed in every classic air racing mod; clipped wings and horizontal stabs, low profile canopy, boil-off cooling, wing strakes, upswept wingtips and of course twin griffons with contra rotating props!

I thought about a "full race modified P-38" years ago, and I mentioned it to some long time air race attendees. I thought they were going to beat me to death. That looks fantastic!

In reality, I'm, afraid they are correct. But still fun to think about!

Two HOT Allison G-6's with a race-prepped -38 wouldn't be half bad to watch.

I wonder what the choice in props would be?

That's very cool! There was a thread somewhere online about "what if" racers, and my suggestion was a race modified A-26 with TWO R-4360s, Race # 26 named "Invader" of course.
