The "Museum of Road Atlanta" Bearcat (former Miss Priss/Tom's Cat/et.all) is now Bill Anders' "Wampus Cat".

The Whittingtons, over the years, owned numerous Bearcats. If I'm not mistaken, the one the Mr. Buccarelli now owns was the subject of some ownership nastiness back in the '80's dealing with Don W. (Don't mess with the tiger unless you're willing to get bit!)

Randy, great photos! Sure hope you share some more with us.

Grumman F8F-2 BuAer No 121646 was surplused in 1958. Unlike most surplus Bearcats, which had their R-2800 engines removed and were then scrapped, No 121646 was one of a few that remained intact and flyable. It was originally registered as N7699C by Antelope Valley Aerial Surveys Co. of Palmdale, CA. At some point (around 1961) the N number was changed to N1111L when Darryl Greenamyer came into possession of the airplane. The airplane we know today as Conquest 1.
This photo as the others I posted earler were take in July 1958.

It's interesting to note that one of Fornoff's Bearcats is N7700C right inbetween the two in the first photo posted.

What is it about Bearcats that makes them so appealing? I mean, given a choice between a Mustang and a Bearcat, I'd go round! In spite of the natural better looks of the P-51.

If they were women, the F8F might be a buff Rhea Perlman, while the Mustang might be Debra Messing. But hey, Rhea has her moments! Just ask Danny D!

Is it reputation from "inside the cockpit", that pugnacious stance on the ground, or the stout, muscular line? Peas
