I heard that Leon Levitz, founder of Levitz Furniture, and father of the late Gary R. Levitz passed away on September 18th. He was almost 101 years old. The irony for me, and I guess what has me feeling melancholy at the moment is that Gary also died on September 18 back in 1999.

Same day. 16 years apart.

I miss my friend.

I found this photo online taken from about 1963 or so when the first "warehouse" store was just opening in Pennsylvania. Gary looks so young.

Thanks for the news. Almost 101 - by itself, thats a huge accomplishment before even considering the family's business success.
