Now that is cool. Another reason to drive there. That's a nice area, I go there every May for the Silver State Classic.

Sounds Great............only trouble is, Ely is a little bit off the bitten path, so to speak. Driving near Fallon once, I noticed a huge dry lake bed ( I think near sand mt) thought to myself what a great place for an air race, could land any direction in the event of an emergency, no residential or commercial develop for miles, still close enough to Reno that people could drive there from lodging or could stay in Fallon. Was just a thought that went through my mind.

Ely is a small town and they welcome special events.

For the Silver State Classic the local cat house hosts a party/bbq on Thursday night.

Now, that's the kind of support I'm talking about. Those ladies lay it out there, and I'm sure it's first come, first served. Other sponsors just, blow off any kind of racing, it sounds like to me they would like to suck any kind of event into the area.

I hope the Stardust Ranch has a Day Care Center otherwise the races will probably not allow minors to attend

I always thought one air race a year was not enough.I know there are stiff safety rules,but why has RARA not tried to expand it's venues?seems there is plenty of desert area in Az and Ca to race?maybe las vegas?

they used to have a race in phoenix.with that and reno,add two more,you could have a three out four championship.

I think the first thing RARA needs to do is come up with Sponsor/Revenue to substantially increase the Sunday Gold Prize money for all classes, before we ask them to expand!

Bronze
Silver
Gold

Then for warbird class

Bronze - Museum Class
Silver
Gold (up to 450 mph)

Then a new Class with a $500,000.00 payout on Sunday, maybe have a requirement that a minimum of 4 planes entered?
Super Modified (450+ mph)

Update on the Ely race. Exciting to see a new venue being developed.
