Reno Stead Airport Runway Work Starting

I noticed today they had the east side access road open, belly dump trucks bringing road base and a grader preparing the dirt road for truck traffic.

Be a nice project, employ a lot of people with the end result a nice runway.

New surface and getting rid of those horrible expansion joints that keep tearing up airplanes.

Yep...not aware of any plans to increase ratings for heavier aircraft. Op's for PRS are off 14/32. Will have 18/36 and perhaps TXWY A available for emergency recovery. Work on 08/26 won't be totally completed until after Race Week but it will be usable for Race Week.

This is a complete rebuild of the runways including over-excavation and struct fill replacement, new base course, and new asphalt. All lighting and markers will be uograded as well. Should reduce he opportunity for expansion cracks to take hold with the freeze thaw and heat of summer. I reviewed the plans to bid.
