NEVER!!!
I remember back to, I think it was 2000l, I was involved with the World of Wings TV production.. On a day off, I got to go to Pylon 8 where Dave DeVos was doing his on-camera stuff.. They would set for his scene, get the camera ready, Dave was set and one of the pylon judges would photobomb Dave from behind by lifting his shirt up over his.... rather sizable belly... After about the third time of start/stop with everyone cracking up, Dave goes into this mock Hollywood rant... "I can't work like this, this is terrible, I'm a professional" and in the next split second he says.. "did anybody get a white balance on that"
Let's just say, everyone within earshot who was watching the shoot was laughing, hard!
Pylon judges having fun.... nonsense!!Wayne Sagar

Shot for the sponsor and all the outdoorsmen out there.
Having spent my younger years fetching firewood, falling tall trees, these events are fun to watch and bring out the inner lumberjack in me. Wheres my flannel shirt :-)
Reno had a televised annual Lumberjack event at Ranch San Rafael park years back.

Re: Random Shot Of The The Day
A shot of the ladder inside Home Pylon. It's a tricky climb especially is you're carrying camera gear. All wrought iron so gloves are really helpful. Hatch at top flips open onto the deck. Room at the top for two to three folks. MUST remember to CLOSE THE HATCH after you get up on the deck...otherwise it's a LONG way down. All the way up the ladder folks who've climbed it take a Sharpie and sign the inside or leave a message. It's a bit of a time piece. Oh, yeah...almost forgot. Very often when we'd arrive at Home in the AM, there'd be a bra or panties hanging from the flag pole. It's a busy place 24/7! :-)
Been up there in a crankin' wind...not for the faint of heart. Damn thing sways and creaks like crazy! Once, when hauling down the US flag it got caught on a metal plate at the top. Home Pylon Captain went up in 20knot wind to try to free it and was subsequently almost beat to death! Those on the ground were yelling instructions up to him but the whipping of the flag was so incredibly loud he couldn't hear a *$&% thing! He's never been back up there since!
And the other picture....well, betcha didn't know I won the Reno National Championship Air Races while flying...kidding. This was when I was awarded the 2012 Volunteer of the Year Award and the usual framed RARA framed license plate award wasn't completed so they handed me this very special piece.
Close as I'll ever get to Reno fame!Last edited by Guest; 02-11-2019, 05:21 PM.
