Block off the intake, plumb up a big tank of water in the back seat and, and you have a P-40 with boil off.

Same group. With the TF restoration of PM taking so long, they needed something bring in the mean time. Although some OF PM's parts flew on another racer this year.

You can't restore PM to a TF. It was never a production mustang to start with. It can be converted, and that would be an epic fail.

Why not?!

In reality, you would probably need a bigger tank, and you would probably only be spraying water, rather than having a true boil off, so you might only be able to reduce the intake rather than closing it off altogether....But still

Also would be fun to try some "whale bumps" over the gun ports.

they will be hard pressed to get 400mph out of a even souped up allison.I can't belive they are returning PM to stock config.that really sucks.

Because the P-40 is a big draggy mess, and Allisons don't make power. If the little Yak can only do 360, that P-40 will be in the low 300s at best. Besides, they aren't coming to win, just to have some fun. Allisons only have one use in competitive unlimited racing. Donating connecting rods to full on race Merlin builds.

PM was already a two seater, adding in dual controls really shouldn't be that major.

Now is the whole airplane being converted to a 'warbird'?
