I've been a member here for a long time, and a lurker since the late 90s. I've seen and been inspired by so many different aviation photographers over the years on here. The past couple years I've actually been able to contribute some good pics, always wondering if I could be good enough to get something published. As it turns out, yes, here and there. I never expected to get a cover shot however. I found out last night that yes, my stuff is good enough to make a cover of a major magazine.
I shot this at Oshkosh this year as Steve Marini taxied his Spartan past as he was leaving. I saw him on the taxiway while I was up in a photographers stand, I didn't have time to put my other camera away, so I climbed down, thinking he'd have to stop because the outbound traffic wasn't moving quickly or steadily at all. That was, until I wanted to shoot Steve. I ended up having to run alongside a good 300 yards until the traffic stopped so I could shoot this pic. I knew I had something good, but I didn't realize it was good enough for a cover shot.
So, thank you to all here who have inspired me to keep raising my personal bar, and striving to be a better photographer. I couldn't have done this without you and this forum.
