  • Mustang Fly-in, Plam Springs

I went to the Palm Spring Air Museum Mustang fly-in.
Only four were there and three flew. I was hoping for more but any flying warbird is a great thing to here and see!
Thought I share a couple shots.

It's one of the cleanest Museum I've ever been to. Not a lot of aircraft but there all in very nice condition.

          Hey Victor,

It was great meeting you down in Palm Springs on Saturday. Looks like you got a few good shots despite the fact that we had to shoot into the sun. I think I got a few good pictures myself but will have to wait until I get unpacked to see what's on the memory card.

          Cheers,

          Rick

                    Mustang fly-in

I pretty familiar with the local SoCal Mustangs and their owners but who owns Dakota Kid? It seams to frequent the Palm Springs Monthly events often

                      Vic,
Great pics! Nuthin' purdier than a polished Mustang, and your pictures show them off fantasticly! (is that even a word?) I've often wondered why Ford never came out with a polished aluminum Mustang (maybe with D-day stripes down the hood) to honor the N. A. Mustang. I know Kahlio and I would be the first two buyers on the list!

It would reveal all the plastic "surgery!" A polished cobra coupe would be very cool! Anybody saved up for a Ford GT? Peas

                          Makes a great desktop

Victor, that Dakota Kid II sure makes a great desktop wallpaper. You do some great work my man. It's great to have you camera "geeks" out there snapping the shots for those of us too far away to travel to the west coast on a whim!!!

The story on the Dakota Kid is that it winters in Palm Springs and spends the summer in North Dakota. According to the museum staff Dr. Keith Reichert is there often polishing his plane in the winter months. Everyone that I spoke to about it seemed amazed that he would do his own polishing. (If I had a Mustang like that I would spend my spare time polishing too!)

There is a lot of attention to detail on that plane. The gun bays are intact and complete with the 50's installed and complete ammo belts. He confirmed that the length of each ammo belt was indeed 9 yards (hence the saying "give 'em the whole 9 yards"). He didn't answer my question when I asked if they were functional or not.
