    Re: Tom Aberle

Only a handful of people have created a racer that dominated a racing class like Tom did.

    Blue skies Tom.

Tom started racing at Reno in 1968! It was his exotic creation, Phantom than shreaded the biplane field for over 15 years. His ablity to beat the 2nd fastest in the Gold class by often a 20%-25% margin was unparalled across all of the NCAR's classes.

      Re: Tom Aberle

Tom was indeed one of the GREATS in Air Racing! He was an innovator, out of the box thinker, and extraordinary pilot. He always did it right that made him and his team a success! He was a true gentleman that would help anyone anytime! Tom was on a stage some years ago at a gala celebrating “The Legends of Air Racing”, and he deserved being there with the greats of Reno. He was a GREAT man, that will be missed by the Air Racing Family. Tom is now dusting pylons, and setting records with those who have gone before us. Our prayers go out to his family friends and team. Blue Skies Tom! God rest his soul!

I’m fortunate to have witnessed your dominance. You’ll always be a legend. The story of Tom Aberle in Reno will be told many times but it will always be the same- “He kicked everyone’s ass. Always.”

            Blue skies and tailwinds.
You'll get your chance, smart guy!
