Looks like a lot of work, but hopefully with the F8F and F6F finished there will be more time for it to have it ready. I'm curious if there are plans to add any race mods like Shanty Irish / ex-Polar Bear was rebuilt with.

Looks like they are about ready to mate the fuselage to the wings again. I wonder if they changed the wing incidence or did any other hidden speed mods that wouldn't be obvious when its all put back together?

She is going to airshows with it, so I seriously doubt it. It will be stock.

Getting close to paint time. Wonder if "Snoopy" will remain purple?

It will. Vicky has said she intends to keep the original scheme.

Fighter Rebuilders has another Mustang project going. It was flying under the name "Petie 2nd"
A long time ago it was Clay Klabo's "Fat Cat" (Iron Mistress)

A little bird told me once long ago that Clay stopped flying his Mustang because his wife Lois thought it was dangerous and asked him not to. Maybe he agreed, I don't know, apparently his T-6 was not verboten so he'd still fly it occasionally, as well as a bunch of other aircraft he owned. He's done some pretty impressive performances in his TPE-331 powered Porter that I would assume are more dangerous than cruising around in a P-51. But she's gone west and Clay is still kicking, maybe she was right?

Everything I've seen and heard from Vicky through various sources says "yes".

I saw Vicki's talk at the Truckee air show in June - she said paint scheme is the same purple, same markings. Ready for Reno? she said everyone is asking that, including her. But that was 6 weeks ago. At an Oshkosh event she said the new name is 'Plum Crazy' if I recall correctly.

I like this. Since Vicky bought it I've heard most everyone call it 'Race 64' rather than 'Miss Van Nuys', I assume partly due to not having that name on it since it's reappearance the past decade. A new identity to pair it to Vicky's ownership is fair considering it's had a handful of names aside from 'Miss Van Nuys' (which is pretty lackluster anyway).
