Did a quick trip to the Black Rock desert, second one in 2 weeks. Nice sun rise on the playa this morning.
The Nevada rocket society is there for the week. This morning enjoying my morning coffee I heard something that was not normal, it was a rocket going way up. I stopped by and they were happy to tell be about their rockets/group. One guy was explaining that until Friday at 6m they Navy limits there flight to 8,000ft, after that through Sunday its limitless. Pretty interesting hobby, some of the motors cost upwards of $600.00 per shot. Pretty laid back group, they were BBQing ribs this morning at for the evening feast.
They said there will be a lot of people there this weekend and rocket action will be non stop.
From what I heard that was a Female Capt. in the Air Force & the only female qualified to be part of the F-35 demo team. She did a damn good job of flying it.

Have to throw in my appreciation as well. Major Kristin Wolfe (callsign Beo) is not only a great pilot but having briefly met her and watching her with the fans, especially, the kids, she is also a great ambassador for the Air Force. It is clear she loves her team and they love her. Smiling, laughing, and cutting up until, as she says, "Showtime!"
I have zero doubt I was in the presence of a future pilot because of her and the team.
Was an honor and a pleasure to work with Maj. Wolfe and her entire team. The level of professionalism is inspiring and brings everyone's game up a knotch or two.
Couple that with Steven Hinton flying the Heritage Mustang, it certainly kept me sharp!
BTW...on Saturday (wind gusts up to 40kts), both Steven Hinton and Maj. Wolfe keyed the mic to say, "Boss, that was really rough." Hinton included (paraphrasing) "that's the roughest I've ever experienced here at Reno."
And just to poke a little at RARA....not ONE performer scratched due to winds all week. Not one!
