In these two classes we have seen Matt Jackson, Doc as well as a few jets get DQ for high flying while dealing with lapping slower aircraft. The 2017 gold race was affected by slower racers as well. Personally in these two classes I would prefer to see only planes in the race that are able to not get lapped. In the interview with Doc he talks of the challenges and well as Matt J talking about he had no where to than up.

I understand the concern here and it does bring up some painful situations. What follows is simply one man's opinion.
High flying DQ's have been around for years. Every pilot knows the rules. Moreover, the Contest Committee (the folks charged with judging such things) are fully aware of the dynamics involved in overtaking a slower aircraft.
The rules state that (paraphrasing) busting the maximum altitude solely for the purpose of overtaking is a violation and the aircraft will be DQ'd. All of this is set forth in the NCAR Rules of Operations and Competition. There is a science behind the rules regarding energy vectoring, scatter patterns, debris radius, etc. It's not an arbritrary thing.
On a side note, a question for the group: How many of us have actually read the rules? If interested, check out page 19 of the NCAR Rules of Operations and Competition. You can find them on the RARA site here.
A lot of chatter on another thread about radio comms supposedly "directing" a pilot on how to "block" an overtaking A/C. That's BS...pure and simple.
Bottom Line: This is racing. It's about going faster than the other guy. And sometimes that means passing him on the race course when it's not for position. It comes with the territory...

Re: unlimited and jets gold racers
3 were capable of making the gold, Miss A would have raced and had less chance of being forced wide coming around 7,8,9. By no means what I have said is the best choice. Thanks air boss for a very well worded response.

Wasn't this what the "Super Gold" and "Super Sport" were trying to do? It didn't work..Reno from '99 to '23
