So here you are -- Reno rookie with a hot new Race motor with all the trimmings out to qualify. Suddenly you are back on the runway moving really fast -- tail high, without flaps, little visibility with oil on the windscreen and more than half the runway behind you where it does you no good at all... I've always wondered how he ever got this thing stopped.

Quite literally as I pressed down on the shutter button there was an audible "POW!" over the roar of the engine...just as Dan passed the home pylon to start the race. I was so disappointed when I got my pictures back that it was such a crappy image.

The steam cleaner at the wash area cleaned off the outside pretty good, but when we got it back to the pits and started pulling off the panels we all got slimmed.
