From the facebook group. I know a lot of yall dont go there, but this request should be made here as well.

        Hi!
I'm Sherman Smoot 's daughter. I was hoping that whoever is in Reno this year, if anyone takes photos or videos of the tributes to my dad on planes, etc., if you are willing to share those with my family so we can store those memories, please email those to carly.smoot@gmail.com.
We really appreciate it. He truly loved this sport, the other pilots and organizers, and the aviation fans. Thank you for all your love and support during this tough time for my family; your kind words and thoughts have been carrying us through💙

I just watched this one?s video about the accident and among the mods he mentions the wing was clipped four feet. Is that correct? It looks to me like a normal span Yak wing.

I'm not "in the know" for all the mods to Chech Mate but the wing looked pretty stock to me. I believe they rebuilt the wing some years ago, but if they "clipped" it, they must've done some scaling down during the rebuild, as the planform didn't seem to change to me.

If he "reported" that the wing was clipped, it adds to my impression that these guys are just the aviation version of the "do your own research" crowd- they'll run with something without REALLY looking into the validity of the information.

No, it is not clipped. Not sure where he got that from.

That?s the Sanders? TBM Avenger, they pulled it out from the NAHI static display to fly the missing man.

For those that haven't seen this yet, the NTSB recently released their final report on this accident.
