  • Chino, Don't miss it!

    Hey Gang,
Ran over to Chino on my way home. There are a lot of warbirds everywhere! I counted eight Mustangs in a row, Tigercats, Bearcats, P-40's, Spitfires, B-25's ect, ect!!! Here are some pre-show pics I shot this afternoon.

Those Chino kids are amazing! My brother and I were there a week ago Friday (after breakfast at Flo's!) and the N-9M had an engine out with a jug or two off, and the POF P-40 had its engine pulled. Looks like all's well. Thanks for the pics Marauder! Next time there, I'll take my real camera!

Nice work Victor! Looks like it was not too smoggy (by Chino standards at least). Thanks for posting these...

Sunday's pics. Ok I'm done four airshows in four weeks. Merlins, Griffons, 3350's, hear what? See? no my eyes are fried. Flying today was awsome. 911, Brian would have smoked that F-16's a$$. The sky well it's Chino better than last year but still on the hazy side. Hey I hear a pair of Franklins, oh nevermind. Boy I need sleep.

I agree, that's one heck of a shot! Victor, you've got to be down around 1/60 or less.. tracking moving airplane well enough to get the blur where you want it and not where you don't... nice job!

Using tripod or monopod?? Either way, Ewe got the steadies my friend!

There is only one word to describe your pictures Victor. Awesome, (well, two words), BEAUUUTIFUULL! Thanks so much for sharing.

                          Re: Chino, Don't miss it!

Very, very nice shots. Sitting here in the midwest makes me jealous. I finally get to try the 10D out on some aircraft at the Deke Slayton Airfest in Wisconsin next month.

I did shoot a bunch at a vintage sports car race this weekend. I'll have to post some in the Digital forum for critiques. All I know is I need more panning practice. I shot all weekend at 1/125th, and 1/60, lots of photos made it to the circular file.
At least with props you can bump up to 1/250th or a little higher when panning.

Thank you everyone for your comments. This board and the other photographers here (Bill, Rick, Tyson, Wayne, etc.) have inspired me to push my photography to new levels. Being the overachiever that I like to be these shots were taken at 1/60th hand held using IS in mode 2 and yes quite a few went into the recycle bin. The P-38 was shot at 1/320th without IS.

This board and the other photographers here (Bill, Rick, Tyson, Wayne, etc.) have inspired me to push my photography to new levels.
                              Victor,

The inspiration is mutual. I see the shots that you, Bill, Wayne, Tim, et. al. post and it makes me want to head out to the airport and take some pictures. Even if it is just a 172 doing touch and goes. It is quite amazing to see how the quality of the pictures being posted has improved over the last year or so.

Some of the quality increase can be attributed to the technology upgrades that we've all made but I would like to think that a great deal comes from the sharing of ideas and pictures that has occcured on this board. When I look at the photos that you and others have posted I always try to figure out what it is about the image that captures my attention, what you did to achieve it, and what I can do to get similar results. When you get down to it its not the gear that takes the picture but the person looking through the viewfinder.

                              Keep sharing,

                              Rick
