That would be Dave Morss of Reno Air Racing fame..!

Though I tried several times to hook up with him to take him up on an invite to get some cockpit shots, I was so tied up whenever he was about, I never got to do it.. Unfortunately/Fortunately, I was working for someone there who flew in the same sessions that Dave did so, whenever Dave was prepping the plane, I was busy also..

Anyway... he did a great job of it!

Clay, that's the US Air Force's "new" trainer the T-6 Texan II!

Pretty cool airplane and MAN can that thing turn on a dime!

It certainly has an interesting looking horizantal stabilizer. Let's put it up against an Extra 300.

Hey Wayne that stuff behind the airplanes, eerrr that blue stuff is that what the sky really looks like outside of california. Some day when I grow up I want to take pictures of airplanes in blue sky . I get to shoot airplanes that are back lit with hazy grey barf. Well sometimes it's brown barf

With nice puffy white things to add interest.

In L.A. you cant tell the sky from the clouds except in varying shades of brown-green....

I love the sky in those pics. I think the D1 will be a very nice backup Wayne, the pics look great. Give us more please, when you have time.

Thanks Bill... after just shy of four years with this body, I had certainly become familiar with it.

I just got it back from Nikon today after much ranting (repairs were completed on the 13th and it finally shipped yesterday after I called... harrumph!)

Looks like they replaced the chip and repaired "something" that I have no idea what it is (some part number) maybe a solder joint???

I think, based on what the website tracking had been saying, they may well have also replaced the shutter.. (that'd be good!)

At any rate, it certainly appears to be working now. Now the temptation to sell it comes into being.. I could REALLY use the money but, not having a backup is probably not an option for me any longer....

Anyway.. thanks, now I have to figure out where in my camera bag I'll carry ANOTHER body! (it all fit so well before.. **sigh**

Hmmm... maybe time for a new camera bag. Perhaps something with wheels.
