  • Miss America history 1958-1969 ?

    Hi racefans,

does anybody have more informations about Miss A´s history from
the time before Howie Keefe bought her ?

    All I could find was:

P-51 Mustang Survivors: Survivor Home. World War II, North American P-51A, P-51B, P-51C, P-51D, P-51H, F-51D, F-51H Mustang survivor in civilian ownership

    and

Maybe somebody remembers, what M. Parker (TX), Donald G. Singleton
(Van Nuys, CA), David S. Allender Jr (San Aario, CA) and Robert N.
    Cleaves did with the plane.

Maybe someone could add/send pictures of 44-74536 from the time
before she got her beautiful paint in the late sixties ?

Was the registration N5452V used for 2 different Mustangs, both in the
    hands of Dave Allender ?
    (See: http://www.mustangsmustangs.net/p-51...44-63675.shtml)

Was the first civil owner related to Alvin Parker (also Texas), who
did the first 1000-km-flight in a glider ?
    (See:http://www.nasm.si.edu/research/aero.../arlington.htm)

This sounds like a question for Dick Phillips over at mustangsmustangs.com.

          Hi Randy,

hmm... follow the links in the opener of this thread.
I tought, if he had more info, it would be posted on
          mustangmustangs.com. Warbirdresourcegroup.org
has even more info, but it´s still not much...
They say Miss A was sold at McClellan (Sacramento)
and name some civil owners. But still not much precise
info for a decade in the life of a legendary Mustang.

Any historicans / oldtimers out there ?

I was more suggesting to take the question to the mm.net message board (or the WIX board), where people like Dick Phillips read and answer questions of this type.

                        I'll say, (around) 1972, pickled Allison's in a crate $500.00, and
                        As-is "flyable" Connie's in Trade-A-Plane $2600.00. WHO KNEW!
(Seemed like a lot of money, then).......Paul

Here is a picture (albeit fuzzy) of N5452V when operated by Dave Allender as #19 at Reno 1967. I don't believe it actually competed that year.
