X-Prize sponsor to hold rocket race

A month or so ago I saw a blurb in the USA Today saying that the Sponsor/Creator of the X-Prize was going to hold a race of rocket powered a/c. In about a year, at 500' doing 300mph on a racourse 3 miles by 1 mile.
Anyone else read this?
