Re: a small question
You sound like a kid doing a project for school...Right? Well, try the Reno Air Race Association. Go to the web site www.airrace.org and start your search there.

Anyway... Back in the early Sixties, a rancher outside of Reno named Bill Stead had the idea to start the races again after a long period without any really well organized racing.
The first races were held in 1964 at a location "just over the hills" from the current location.
I'm not exactly sure when the Reno Air Racing Association (RARA) was formed but that is "who" puts on the current National Championship Air Races.
Over the years, there have been some other races held in other locations by various people/groups. Currently a gentleman by the name of Jeff Landers is working on making a series of races around the country and perhaps, in other countries as well. Last year he successfully held an event in Tunica, Mississippi.
There are quite a few resources available to you via a google search.
Welcome to the site and the sport of air racing.
