Dreadnought just pulled off the course during a qual lap with a lot of smoke and some loud popping. Hope she’s okay!

It’s down safe on 14. Things look calm out there.

Glad Joel is okay but that engine is 100% done. It will go home on a truck.

          Dang. Glad he's down safe!

Sad we don't get to hear the corn cob this week.
My heart starts beating again in September.

Glad they are down safe! Was there a time before it blew?

That sounded like half the engine lunched...

Wonder if the crank decided to let go…

As we were near the pits afterward, I believe that we heard one of the crew say that a master rod let go. I was watching him with my binoculars, and it looked like the prop was feathered and windmilling on final, so there was probably no compression.

It was a rather dramatic failure.

I am really disappointed that they're out.

Master rod was the term I was thinking about, but for some reason, couldn’t think of at that moment

Has Dreadnought ever left Reno on a trailer? I know a few other Sea Fury’s have.

Yes the master rod let go. I was up on the hillside when it did, have pics, have not processed them.
