  • Reno airshow, who’s going?

Anyone headed to the Reno airshow? I know it’s not racing and will never be what it used to be, but I feel this will allow me and my friends to close out a chapter. Plus, enjoying a cold beer in the stands and watching airplanes sounds like a great way to end it! We’ll be going for all 3 days.

    Hope to see you there!

I will be there on Saturday with my son-in-law and two grandsons, and we'll camp out at St. Michael's church.

I was considering flying down if they allowed GA arrivals/departures before or after the show, but they don't. I don't have the time or desire to make the 7 hour drive down for "just" another airshow. If we could've flown down early, watched the show, and left early the next morning, it could've been worth it, but it loses it's appeal if I have to fly into Reno or Carson City....

I hear ya! I’m making the almost 7 hour drive for it. But I had the time off and gonna meet up with some great friends for it!

Well folks, I’m here, and the best way to put it is, weird. It’s just weird. I’m beyond happy to be here but as we sit in the damn near empty stands, it makes me pretty sad. We’re directly across from the home pylon and to know we’ll never see planes rounding them, is just weird. I’m conflicted at the moment.

The weather is amazing, the sweet ladies who’ve sold us beers for the last ump-teen years are still selling us beers and we hugged it out and shed some tears.

I truly love this place and will deeply miss it.

To be here to watch airplanes is better than to be here with no airplanes, so we’ll take what we can get!

For those of you that will make it this weekend, I hope you enjoy it; I know we will!
