    We were there for the whole weekend to include Friday night’s show. Though the crowds were decent with more attending Sunday. As others have said, I think a lot of people didn’t choose the reserved grandstand ticket option as there was more than plenty of room in the stands both days.

      An overview of airfare - American Airlines (Envoy Air/American Eagle) currently operate THREE flights in and THREE flights out of Roswell Air Center every day. All of these flights are to and from Dallas Forth Worth International Airport. Come October 21st you will be able to fully book flights up through September 15th (Monday after the races). The aircraft fit an average of 70 people.

      Current Flights:

      DFW -> ROW (CDT)
      • 10:10 AM
      • 2:40 PM
      • 10:30 PM
      ROW -> DFW (MDT)
      • 6:47 AM
      • 1:07 PM
      • 5:27 PM
      There has been discussion of adding extra flights to accommodate the races, but I heard American wasn't fully on board since there "aren't enough hotels to justify additional flights". It would take American (or another carrier) realizing that fans will be lodging in more than just hotels to be able to justify additional flights.

      On another note, with the course layout it seems like there will be minimal disruption to commercial flights in and out during race week as the runway used doesn't interfere with the race course. Should be pretty simple for ATC to coordinate the 3 flights (as it stands now) to arrive/depart after a race conclusion/landing, or during join-up.

        No idea if they will hold but I have both a hotel and rental car reservation for Mon-Mon. Will attempt to get the airline ticket once the flights open up. Time will tell if everything is honored as booked, but truthfully, I am happy to have gotten this far.

        Went to the airshow last weekend and had a quiet, reflective time. Certainly wasn't the races, but as other have said, the pacing was good for a straight airshow and that allowed time for my brain to relive my special visits to northern Nevada. I was sad to snap my last picture of the Reno home pylon, but I did realize that while I was saying good-bye to the home of all the great memories I have of air racing to this point, I was also hopeful about the possibility of new memories and traditions taking hold.

        Yeah, they should be able to work the important traffic in and out without issue. Midland has done it for years to the point that Southwest 737's, et al. are almost a part of the show.

          I've been casually trying to figure out the logistics of this trip myself While Roswell is not near as far from me as Reno is, It's going to be much harder to get to.

          Given the limited airline service into Roswell, those flights will be "Golden Tickets". Lacking the correct Wonka bar, all the alternate airports with major airline service leave you with a roughly 200 mile drive to Roswell. (Albuquerque, Amarillo, El Paso, Lubbock, or Santa Fe) Just scanning the map, I don't see any towering hotels along those 200-mile drives either.

          I saw that RARA is running an online contest to award "a Grand Prize all-inclusive trip to the event" I hope they also have some people working on the travel and hospitality aspect of Roswell such that enough fans can get there to support it.
