My Boss used to work there. he says they had an F-82 on display for a short time, but it was not part of the museum, he is almost certain it was a loan of some kind. He said he would ask around about it.

No your not remembering things wrong. I to have seen it.
I remember seeing it on school field trips to harrahs. I was fairly young, and going to school at Elmcrest Elementry at the time. It was in the collection for at least 2 years, maybe 3.

About 2 years ago I started asking around about it on this forum and on the pilon 1 forums. But no one could even remember seeing one there.
but if memory servs, I read someplace that it was taken apart and trucked to Texas for a full restor and is currently (2 years ago) on display some place down there. I was also sent pics of it on the truck and a pic of it in a sling being hoisted off of the truck. I do not have the pics any longer cuz of a computer failure, and had to format the HD. But the images are burned into my minds eye.

Any how I hope this shortends the surch for this wondefull AC. I just wish I could provide more info for you.

I remember the day Bill Harrah flew tri- motor over Reno. It was so low, an incredible view. As far as I know it was the only time it flew under Mr. Harrah's ownership. But what a site to see..... MG

I remember going in the early 70's and the Trimotor was inside, the P-40 and a P-38 (F-5 if I remember) were parked in outside storage with seemingly hundreds of basket case cars. Partially covered and badly weathered. The 38 sticks out as I was just getting into the whole warbird thing and it was the first I had seen. I don't recall an F-82 at that time, e would have as my dad was building a flying model of it at the time. It would be interesting to know when and which one was displayed, as there are/were so few.

I figure I've got pretty good odds on a guess. I'll say it is the one the CAF has. I do remember it was black. I think. Pure guess, no fact.

The CAF P-82 came from Lackland. Air Classics profiled it's history about the time of it's accident.

...that be,is there any other auto museums in the Reno area ?
