  • Question about sandy

i was wondering why there were no a-1 skyraiders that race
i know there were setup as a slow moving ground attack plane
but i also know that air racers have a way of making things alot faster.
i was just wondering if there was a underlying reason that i may not know about.or is it just no one has one in the race community

sounds like those a-1's were stock...
        at those speeds
it doesnt sound like any MAJOR race mods were made
i thought they had a good size engine..made me think why not race 1

        figured i whould ask

I think they look great running the course stock! Kind of like the wildcat, alot of fun in last place.

              Re: Question about sandy

They looked great going around the course, but I don't see how one could possibly be competitive except chasing tails in the bronze. The SPAD was designed to haul itself and a lot of ordinance to a target and loiter there. It just ain't gonna go fast!
With a 3350, cleaner cowling, much thinner reworked fus, thinner shorter wings and a smaller tail group one could probably... wait is'nt that a Sea Fury?
