Okay, serious answer now. Ron B. might be able to correct me here, because I don't know what kind of rpms and manifold pressure he has used in the past....but when the plane qualified at 453 in 1988 (which, by the way, was the fastest a 'new' racer has ever qualified at in its first year), they had all sorts of problems with the prop governor any time they went over 3000 rpm. That is, in fact, what led the plane to crash that year.
Every year since then, it has been significantly slower...and I believe it is because in order to actually USE all that power from the Griffon, you have to be able to spin the props faster...and that seems to be a weak point.
