As to why an aircraft might be at a restoration/maintenance shop like the Sanders... could be a myriad of Good things ..testing, smokewinder fitting, systems upgrades, etc, etc.
To speak of a "New" aircraft with alleged "issues" at a shop, doesn't do the AC builder any good, nor the owners Ego any favors.
Rest assured that the aircraft could not be in any better hands, whether it be an upgrade or a systems check or a new "goodie".
Seeing the alleged plane at the alleged shop was what I would imagine seeing a captured plane in an allied hangar during WWII. Cool lookin', sinister, and surrounded by "good guys" pokin' and proddin' it.

Sooo. Although "White 1" is a name for a historic FW-190 f-8...It is also the name of an ME-262 owned by a Judge in WA. and manufactured by Stormbirds.
Whether the FW-190 f-8 at the Stormbirds facility is owned by the same judge.. I don't know. Gotta love civil servants with the bankroll to finance projects like that though!! Cheers to tax dollars finally doing something I approve of!!
Went out to Ione and had a look at the Stormbirds Me-262. What an awesome aircraft. Sitting there in the hangar I had to think back 65 years ago and wonder about the impact this jet fighter would have had if it had been produced earlier in the war. Talked with Dennis and the aircraft is there for evaluation and to have a few things worked on, like radios and the like. It is truely a beautiful looking aircraft, even thought it is a new build warbird.
I would say one thing, I have known the Sanders for several years and they have always made me welcome out at their facility. The posting of this news has started a frenzy of aviation enthusiasts to travel out there to have a look. While the Sanders are very accommidating to visitors they are after all a business. I would STRONGLY suggest you call ahead if you are planning to make a visit out there, to see if your visit is timely. Just a courtesy to the folks out there. I was told the Me-262 will be there for some time, so there is no need to RUSH out there. If you go out there keep this in mind, ABSOLUTELY NO PHOTOS of the aircraft are allowed.
Don't kill the messanger, new owners request i guess. However, I am sure the Germ will find a way to get some pictures. In the meantime I will get right on the request Watno and schedule some A2A for next week. Yeah right!!!!!!!Don't I wish............... It's not like the thing hasen't been photograghed for every aviation rag out there, including Air Comix.
Wayne, did you get my email about the website logo??? If so do want us to include it or what. We are going to have to let the cat out of the bag here pretty soon. I think the boys and girls out there are ALMOST ready. What do you think????
I shot a ton of A2A with the 262 when they escorted us (B-24) into Paine Field last year. Check out webshots...http://community.webshots.com/user/jfharley While at Paine this year we were shown around the facility again and they have the 3rd machine up on its gear and according to Mr. Hammer, with the a cleared check they can have it flying by the end of summer. They have an awesome program going and are about to embark on a couple ME109s projects. Exciting stuff.
