I had been dreaming of producing this calendar for nearly 5 years and it took a great deal of coordination to get it accomplished. The contributing "we" that I speak of that made this calendar possible are Jim Dunn, Richard VanderMeulen, Wayne, Kevin Grantham, Nicolas Veronico and myself.

Hey Dave, I appreciate the back slap but you guys did all the work! All I did was provide a photo when asked. There are a lot of photographers out there who are far better shooters than myself and I feel really privileged to have had one of the few air to air sessions that have ever been done with the Rare Bear and I'm pretty well honored being able to be in this first edition!

We've all talked about it from time to time but the BIG Thanks go to you guys for getting it done!

I just ordered mine. Now, when do we get a calendar with some of the other classes in it (biplanes, maybe)?

Jeff, As one of the producers of the calendar, I can tell you that with the proper motivation, we could produce a calendar of other classes as well, but would need a significant minimum order. If you want to discuss it, you can send me an email. I think you may still have my contact info.

Holy cow, an air racing calendar. What a great idea. I can't wait to see it. Any more info on other racers featured on the calendar? Does this mean there will be more calendars to come? I just can't believe someone has finally done a calendar about air racing. I will definately be buying a few of those. Xmas is just around the corner and my race fan buddies will get a kick out of getting one of these. Maybe there will be enough interest do other classes in a calendar format. I am just happy to have this one out there. Great job to all involved and thank you.

I want to thank everyone for their interest in our calendar. Lets touch on a few issues related to producing a calendar. First of all, it is a HUGE undertaking to get everything set up. We are foretunate to have selected an outstanding and well established publishing company that worked closely with us to create the awesome end product for you all. We would love to produce a calendar for each of the racing classes, but the simple fact is that certain race classes have a much larger following than others. If any of the race classes were to come up to us and guarantee the sale of enough copies of a calendar I am sure we could work something out to get a product they would be satisfied with. I will throw this out to the other classes, if say, someone wanted to have their business logo represented and wanted their racer, as well as others from his or her class featured on the calendar we would be interested in talking with them. That is the best way, I see getting the other classes featured on a calendar. The Unlimited Class has such a large fan base, it is hard to ignore the potential for a calendar.
We have plans to produce at least 3 other calendars for the next few years, continuing the theme of the Unlimited Class racers. We hope you will continue to support our dream of providing a first class racing calendar for your enjoyment. We welcome all feedback from you to improve the calendar, and look forward to hearing from you all.
I also need to mention the support of Aaron King and Jerry Liang for providing photos used on the calendar, and I apologize for omitting their contributions earlier. I hope you continue to support the calendar and we look forward to bringing you new a new calendar next year.

Thanks! I think with Vic's advanced alien technology we will have a hard time duplicating his superior technical media in order to format the images properly. No disrespect to E.T. cousin, but the fact remains, I am affraid, that his technology is far more advanced than ours. We appreciate the support from everyone. If you have the opportunity to pick up a copy of In Flight USA at your local airport, you will find our advertisement for the calendar. The publishing company is looking to have the calendars displayed at Barnes and Nobles, and other book stores. That is not firm yet, but we are working on it. Tuck these babies under your arms while supplies last.

The simple fact of the matter is that I don't have any air to air shots of UNLIMITEDS, oh and I wasn't asked or invited it to their little group. But I did buy one of the calendars.

There here!!!!!!! Picked up the calendars last Friday and I have them in my hot little hands. The publisher did an awesome job, and the rare Cleveland images are stunning. Remember, these are limited and once they are gone, they are gone for good.
Note: We are working on next years calendar and your input would be appreciated. What UNLIMITED racers would you like to see put into a calendar. Can not promise it being put into the calendar, but it will give us an idea of you die hard race fans want. Thanks.

BTW.. you scared me. Just added an add'l 2 to my pre-order qty. Any clue how soon you'll be shipping ??

Got word from PaintBoy that we'd be getting our first batch of the calendars to ship on Monday, the 11th. With any luck, we'll get them packeged up and UPS'd by the next day or Wednesday at the latest..

But as in the article, if you want one at Reno.. unless it gets to you before you come out, you're gonna buy one from RARA.. TRUST ME... buying them from RARA can ONLY HELP the cause in getting some future calendars produced that will keep this new tradition going!

I have not gotten to see them yet but I'm estatic since hearing about how they look!!

Sorry folks,

Did not mean to scare anyone with the "limited" comment. Let me clarify what I mean. We ordered 1000 calendars from the publisher. Now, you might say, hell that's alot. But let me put it into perspective. Roughly 150,000 to 200,000 fans attend the air races over the 4 day period. If one percent purchase the calendar, that would exceed the available number of calendars. ONE PERCENT!!!!! That is what I mean by "limited". The calendars are first class, and unless you are looking for a particular racer ONLY, to be featued on the calendar, you will not be disappointed. We fully expect to sell out of this calendar. So make your decision accordingly on purchasing one. Hope to see many of you at the races.

The first batch of calendars were delivered to RARA yesterday. They should be at the RARA merchandise booth on Thursday, ready for sale. As Wayno said he will have his portion delivered to him when he arrives at Reno. I have had requests to hold calendars for individuals, and while I would love to make arrangements for everyone it's just not possible. I will be extremely busy working on future projects while at the races. We will strive to make sure the calendars are available for whomever wants one. My suggestion is to pick them up when you see them as I can not guarantee how long they will last. All of us are extemely pleased at the response to the calendar and are already working on the next one. Just trying to fill a much needed demand for years. Thank you to everyone.
