Back on guitar, does the pedal steel count? I was going through some old stuff and "found" a real gem that I had forgotten about. The Flaming Guitars of Speed West and Jimmy Bryant- Stratisphere Boogy. That album cooks. If ever I was driving the getaway car, I would want these guys stoking the fires of my lead foot.
Another awesome pedal steel guy was/is? Curly Chalker. He did some killer work with Dick Curless. He was also the pedal steel player on HeeHaw! I know, how hokey was that show? The guy was smooth as butter though.
