What's the outlet behind the canopy on the right side? Oil cooler boil-off permitting more airflow for the main radiator? Hmmm, ejector for spent shells?

Bingo! We found that the 30mm Gatling gun fits very nicely right next to the ADI tankage.

It's very simple---maintenance!!! The airplane has been idle for basically 2 years---

Quoted from the Mustangsmustangs Dago Red page:

"After 2004, owner Terry Bland put Dago "on blocks" and word was out that the racer was retired. The 2005 races went on without a crowd favorite."
Oh yeah? Since when has Rare Bear NOT been a crowd favorite?

                .

I don't believe he is saying the Bear or Strega is not a favorite. It sounds like he is saying the show went on without one of the crowd favorites...

Well let's remember that Curtis is writing his updates for mustangsmustangs.net. There may be a tiny bit of bias at play.

An aft-firing gatling gun on the right side prevents being passed on the outside *and* adds thrust....

Depends on which crowd you talk to :-)

Actually, the Bear is one that pretty much everyone likes, even if they don't root for it. I'm a Dago Red and Dreadnought fan and always have been, but seeing the Bear in top form these past couple of years sure warmed my heart.
